A little wren balances on a stem of pink and white chrysanthemums, the autumn flower of Japan, beneath a brushed poem and above a soft blue band. Utagawa Hiroshige made this color woodblock print around 1830. This print reproduces the original, now in the public domain, from a high-resolution open-access image by The Metropolitan Museum of Art (object 36731).
