For the family that loves an old farmhouse and a house full of little ones: a small child walks a lion, an ox, a wolf, a lamb, a leopard and a goat down to a quiet river. Edward Hicks, a Quaker preacher and sign painter from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, painted this early Peaceable Kingdom around 1816-1818, after the prophecy in Isaiah 11, and came back to the subject for the rest of his life. This print reproduces the original painting, now in the public domain, from a high-resolution open-access image by the Cleveland Museum of Art.
Why you'll love it
• A gentle, storybook scene of a child and animals at peace
• Soft river greens and warm browns for a nursery, hallway or farmhouse living room
• A gift for a baby shower, a christening or a first birthday
