Five fronds of common polypody, from long feathery leaves to small curled young ones, each with its root, arranged on a cream page. This plate (Plate I, Polypodium vulgare and its varieties) comes from The Ferns of Great Britain and Ireland, published in London in 1855 by Thomas Moore and John Lindley and nature-printed by Henry Bradbury from real plants. This print reproduces the original plate, now in the public domain, from a scan of the Missouri Botanical Garden copy (Biodiversity Heritage Library / Internet Archive).
