For the one who loves the Maine coast best when the sea is up: acadia national park canvas from 1850. Green waves break over dark rock while a ship sails past on the horizon in this oil sketch by Frederic Edwin Church. This canvas reproduces the work, now in the public domain, from a high-resolution image by the National Gallery of Art.
