The dancer Jane Avril, all in black under a wide feathered hat, sits at the front of the audience beside the critic Édouard Dujardin, while singer Yvette Guilbert performs on stage - recognizable only by her famous long black gloves. Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec made this poster in 1892-93 for the Divan Japonais, a small café-concert in Montmartre. This print reproduces the original four-color lithograph from The Metropolitan Museum of Art's public-domain image.
